Definition | Share of arable land area in the total area of the Agricultural Land Fund of the Czech Republic. Arable land is land on which cereals, root crops, forage crops, industrial crops and other agricultural crops are regularly cultivated or which is only temporarily grassed. Agricultural Land Fund, abbreviated as ZPF, is a legal term that includes utilised agricultural area and agricultural lands as well as land that is not currently cultivated. This includes, for example, arable land, vineyards, orchards, meadows or pastures, but also fish ponds, field roads, drainage ditches and other lands used for agricultural production. The Agricultural Land Fund is legally regulated by the Act on the Protection of ZPF No. 334/1992 Coll., which defines the Agricultural Land Fund as the basic natural wealth of the country, as an irreplaceable means of production enabling agricultural production and as one of the main components of the environment. In total, the Agricultural Land Fund of the Czech Republic covers 7.9 million hectares, which is just over half of the total area of the country. |
