Foreign trade in technological services mainly follows the sale and purchase of intangible technologies and knowledge of a given country in relation to other economies. Income data, or payments received as part of foreign trade in technological services, express the technological level of the economy, i.e. they inform about the extent of foreign trade in industrial property and knowledge associated with advanced technologies. |

The technological services are defined on the basis of the items of the Extended of Balance of Payments Services classifications EBOPS 2010 into the following four categories: computer services (SI2 + SH3), design, engineering and other technical services (SJ31), research and development services (SJ1), license fees for the right to use industrial property products (SH2).
