Relevance/rationale of the indicator (resp. why the indicator was chosen to measure the target and how it is suitable for these purposes) |
Most of the world’s water resources are shared. A large portion of the global population reside in – and are directly reliant upon water supplied – by shared river and lake basins or aquifers. Common water resources are intensively affected by human activities, such as watercourse regulation, water abstraction and pollution produced by cities and municipalities, industry, agriculture, transport and other sectors. The effects of these factors can have cross-border implications. Specific agreements or other arrangements between co-riparian countries are a precondition to ensuring long-term, equitable and sustainable cooperation of these waters. |

There are three international river basin districts in the Czech Republic. Therefore, the evaluation contains three values. These results will not change significantly over time. Therefore, the evaluation can take place in longer time horizons. |
