Relevance/rationale of the indicator (resp. why the indicator was chosen to measure the target and how it is suitable for these purposes) |
Integrated watercourse management supports the balanced economic development of the territory and includes requirements for environmental protection in all decision-making processes. This is conditional, inter alia, on the effective use of environmental management and auditing (EMAS) processes, support for the introduction of best available techniques (BAT) and the promotion of cleaner production (CP) principles. The selected indicator is used to evaluate the fulfillment of the objectives of Directive 2000/60 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2000 establishing a framework for Community action in the field of water policy and the requirements of Act No. 254/2001 Coll., On Waters and certain laws (Water Act), as amended. |

Comment |
The goal of integrated watercourse management is the active involvement of all interest groups (state administration, regional and local governments, business entities, non-governmental non-profit organizations and the population) in the process of managing and improving the state of watercourses and surface water quality in them. The basic condition is quality regular monitoring of watercourses and the existence of a functional information system. As part of spatial planning and defining the development priorities of individual municipalities and regions, interest groups are provided with objective information on the state of watercourses. All stakeholders are invited to cooperate at the time of preparation or updating of strategic decisions and documents, in order to resolve emerging conflicts in a consensual manner and to find optimal solutions to problems. |
