In 2023, there were 4 deaths of women related to pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium; per the number of live births, there were 4.4 deaths of women per 100,000 live births. In the long-term view, maternal mortality has substantially decreased with improvements in general health care and maternal and child health care. In 1994 the maternal mortality dropped to less than 10 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births. Over the past decade (2014–2023) it fluctuated between 0.9 and 4.4 deceased women per 100,000 live births. |
