Relevance/rationale of the indicator (resp. why the indicator was chosen to measure the target and how it is suitable for these purposes) |
To measure trends in malaria morbidity and to identify locations where the risk of disease is the highest. With this information, programmes can respond to unusual trends, such as epidemics, and direct resources to the populations most in need. This data also serves to inform global resource allocation for malaria such as when defining eligibility criteria for Global Fund finance. |

The data are compliant with the UN methodology. The indicator is related to the mid-year population, not only to the population at risk of disease. All reported cases are imported to our territory, i.e. the infection occurred outside the territory of the state. In our territory, there is practically no ocurrence of the vector (mosquito of the genus Anopheles) that would transmit the disease agent. |
