Target value of the indicator and its evaluation
Definition	The conservation of plant and animal genetic resources for food and agriculture (GRFA) in medium or long term conservation facilities (ex situ, in genebanks) represents the most relevant method of conserving genetic resources worldwide.

Comment	The numbers of conserved plant and animal genetic resources are stable and do not increase very much over the years now. One of the reasons is the shift of priorities within the National programme on conservation and utilization of plant, animal and microbial genetic resources important for food and agriculture to description and characterization of genetic resources with the aim of their utilisation in research, testing and breeding programmes.
